Floor scrubber running on a hard floor

When was the last time your facility had its floors stripped and waxed? Floors are often neglected, even though we literally walk all over them. They take constant abuse from foot traffic, rolling chairs, equipment, and many other things. This often overlooked investment will undoubtedly be more costly to replace than to maintain properly.

Why should I have my floors stripped and waxed?

The most obvious reason to strip and wax a floor is to achieve a finish with the right shine, which gives your building a feeling of cleanliness. The less-obvious reasons are more practical; stripping and waxing removes dirt and grime that the floor collects over time. This dirt can get down in between the seams and in the cracks in the floor, creating an environment where bacteria can grow and thrive.  The process of waxing creates a seal to protect these sensitive areas and keep dirt out of them. It also helps protect from inadvertent scratching that could damage the actual flooring material instead of just the top waxed layer.

The stripping and waxing process will give you a clean shiny surface, and make your regular cleaning routine much smoother as it is easier to clean a properly waxed surface. Floors that are not waxed and maintained properly can be a chore to keep clean.

How often should I strip and wax the floors?

The frequency with which you should strip and wax your floor is largely determined by the amount and type of traffic and wear you put on the floor. In general, it should be at least one or two times per year.

Facilities that have high foot traffic like schools, retail store, and restaurants should have a regular floor maintenance schedule. These services can often be scheduled during down times like school breaks, holiday weekends, and over night when the facility is normally closed.

Having a regular floor maintenance schedule will help your floors stay clean, avoid damage, and keep their long lasting shine!

How long does the process take?

This depends entirely on the size and type of location. Our team typically schedules these services for overnight or weekend hours, so that your facility is already closed while the process is ongoing. If the facility is very large, it can be scheduled in phases so that the process is spread out over a number of days in order to reduce the disruption to your operations and staff.
